Gilthead

Gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) is a Mediterranean fish and is one of the most important aquaculture species in the Mediterranean region. The global production is approximately 260,000 tons per year. The main producers are Greece, Egypt, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. Gilthead seabream is predominantly bred in net pen systems, but coastal lagoons, flow-through and recirculating systems are also used.
